A Country Woman’s Effortless Transition to Lifestyle Community

When Rhonda Barter’s son moved to Medowie, she admits that she had no idea where it was on the NSW map. However, with the motivation of having her son close by she decided to have a closer look at the area for her next move.

You can take the girl out of the country, but you can’t take the country out of the girl

As a native of Old Bar and having lived in Bega for that past 15 years, Rhonda is a country girl at heart and her number one priority was a place with access to green spaces.

‘Kim, the sales manager, was very responsive in her communications with me and showcasing all the facilities.  She understood my love of the bush and showed me the 22 acres of bushland right off the bat. Since I was coming from a rural area with five acres, this really helped me feel comfortable with moving into the area.’

In her search Rhonda found that other lifestyle options, were no comparison to Tallowood.

‘When I started looking there were three places on my list including Tallowood.  I also looked at buying a house, but then I realised what’s the point – I want low maintenance.’

Best Fit in Tallowood

For Rhonda, Tallowood was impressive in both its style and location, which was conveniently walking distance to shops, cafes, and services.

However, although the bushland was a big plus, she was still worried that a villa might reduce privacy and that noise might be a problem.

‘This turned out not to be an issue. I was delighted to find that noise is not a problem at all. It’s a really nice space, it’s quiet, private and I love the quality of the home build.’

Taking the plunge

With the decision made, Rhonda moved into her new home in March 2021 and has taken to her new lifestyle like a duck to water.

The smart home design suits Rhonda’s needs and she loves to spend time in her enclosed
al fresco, which is another great extension of her home.

She has fully embraced her new lifestyle and enjoys walking around the green spaces and to the shops, making new friendships within Tallowwood and in the Medowie community and, most recently, taking on the role of Residents’ Committee Treasurer.

‘I love to walk down the back with a book and watch the lake and enjoy the quiet and tranquillity. I also love that I can just lock up and travel and know my place is safe, especially as a single woman.’

In her free time, Rhonda is loving the excellent club house amenities including the indoor pool where she takes aqua aerobics, the spa, and the cinema, where she’s been many times.

‘I’m looking forward to enjoying the upcoming additions this summer of the outdoor swimming pool, BBQ area, tennis courts and bowling green. The Club House has been top notch, but the additional features really top it all off.’

To socialise or not to socialise

She appreciates the flexibility when it comes to social interaction.

‘Being social is easy – it’s not in your face but if you want to be sociable then people are around if you want a chat.  As they say, ‘you can’t choose your neighbours,’ but I feel very fortunate, I really love my neighbours and it’s a lovely community.’

‘Overall, I’m pleasantly surprised at how easy it has been to transition to Tallowood lifestyle community.  I’m now interested getting to know all new people from different backgrounds and stories.’

Sage advice

For those considering a move to Tallowood, Rhonda has this advice: Come and see if for yourself. I have a lot of friends coming here to check it out. I tell them to do their homework and compare what’s on offer.  Talk to the people and have a look around. You soon will see why Tallowood is the best choice.’
